City Suite
Help to reduce the time to deliver emergency services, improve the resiliencyof urban infrastructure
My role :
Research, User Flow & Feature Design

BACKGROUND
Problem space
Natural disasters have increased threefold times in the past few years, causing huge damages and prolonged crisis situations in North America. The challenge is to keep critical city infrastructure operational, resilient and services uninterrupted
Business Opportunity :
Annually $13B per annum losses on calamities have led US Govts. to increase FEEMA resilience funding up to $5B
As Senior Designer, I simplifying complex grid analytics into actionable insights, improving urban resilience and increasing energy efficiency
Team :
2 designers, 4 developers, 2 Offering and 1 PM
Timeline :
Feb 22’ – Nov 23’

MY JOURNEY
Learning domain ,hands on with the existing products and much more.
Visiting the EOC Centres in Kyle and Peaks pykes
Primary research
1
VWith the information on Emergency resonse, a mind map helped in structuring the stages
Mind Map
3
There were online sessions, field visits and also semi structured calls with tech partners
Research Plan
5
The esisitng product had a flow, which needed to be interprested and translated according to the current needs
Concept & Wireframes
7

2
Structured Interview
Different SME's in the emrgency response team gave fresh perspectives on handling emergency
4
Affinity Mapping
After all the research input, affinity mapping and prioritisation helped in narrowing down the topmost needs
6
9
Ideation Workshop
All the needs bucketed together formed themes on which the exisitng product was mapped for feature identification
Iterations
Multiple designs were made, with frequent additions and input from tech partners and offering teams
8
Leadership presentations
Getting the VP of Smart Cities, Matthew Britt on board with the approach and take feedback

SITUATIONAL AWARENESS
Incoming Weather Alert
The weather alert panel with a map view integrated gives flexibility to the user to choose his path of action. Allowing the hover information and quick swapping of infrastructure and microgrid panels ensures user to access any necessary details for his awareness about the system.
1
Map page Orchestration
The alert gives map orchestrated view, which is helpful to geographically locate the back up micorgrid locations, their proximity and available back up.
2
Micro grid Hover state
There are multiple statuses, which by hovering on the icons, it allows to view the power back up situation and availability of a microgrid. Without going into the panel.
3
Weather Alert Blob
This is a spatial alert which allows multipleinfrastructure,e the red blob is an indication of a weather alert which is severe, and holds the infrastructure in the segment
4
Infrastructure Panel
The panel on clicking the icon views primary information of any critical infrastructure, including its power situation.
Weather Alert Workflow
Below is the build screenrecording of the workflow of the alert incoming and visualising details on map

COMMON OPERATING PLATFORM
Resiliency Uptime
Allows the user to associate a percentage score to the past performances, and showing the uptime any infrastructure could avail due to back up of microgrids.
This vision was to create an information piece as a key indicator for the overall health of the city and can be individually attributed to each infrastructure

1
Dashboard Resiliency Card
There are multiple statuses, which are secondary information in general, but when needed should be handy.
2
Resiliency Uptime
The new term "Resiliency Uptime" gives an idea to the operator, duration to sustain the power services based on the backup availability of the microgrid.
